Capcom has announced that Onimusha: Way of the Sword will launch on September 25, 2026, for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store. Alongside the release date confirmation, the publisher deployed a free playable demo across all targeted platforms, with digital and physical pre-orders officially opening across three retail tiers.

The upcoming action title follows historical swordsman Miyamoto Musashi as he combats the demonic Genma forces. Newly released gameplay footage highlights Mount Oe, a fortress situated outside Kyoto controlled by a colossal Genma commander claiming to be the mythical Shuten Doji. Mechanically, the footage showcases Musashi utilizing supernatural speed and strength to breach the stronghold’s structural defenses, culminating in a sequence where the protagonist activates an upgraded “Oni Warrior” transformation state.
The live public demo allows players to test the game’s combat mechanics within the historic Kiyomizu-dera Temple environment. The trial segment concludes with a high-intensity boss encounter against Musashi’s historical rival, Sasaki Ganryu. Participating in the demo unlocks an exclusive Kubi Akari charm for use in the final release. Capcom noted that while the current build does not fully represent final PC optimization, a standalone PC benchmark tool will be released at a later date.
Retail versions start with the Standard Edition ($69.99 USD), moving up to a digital-only Deluxe Edition ($79.99 USD) and a Premium Deluxe Edition ($89.99 USD), both of which bundle an array of cosmetic gear, stat-altering charms, and an integrated digital soundtrack.
