Performance expectations for Crimson Desert across multiple platforms have now been outlined, as developer Pearl Abyss published the official PC, console, ROG Xbox Ally, and Mac specifications required to run the open-world action-adventure. The newly shared information details recommended hardware configurations, graphical features, and display requirements players should meet before stepping into the game’s vast world.
PC Performance Requirements
On PC, performance will depend on both hardware configuration and graphics settings. According to the developer, results listed in the official specifications are based on internal testing and may vary depending on system components and software environments.
The PC version requires support for DirectX 12, with different hardware tiers targeting varying resolutions and performance levels. Players are advised to ensure their system meets or exceeds the minimum specifications for stable gameplay, particularly when enabling higher graphical settings designed to showcase the game’s large-scale environments and visual fidelity.
Console Performance Notes
For console players, several features depend on compatible display technology. Achieving higher refresh-rate modes—such as 120Hz or 240Hz output—requires a compatible display and an HDMI 2.1 connection. Variable Refresh Rate (VRR) functionality likewise requires a VRR-supported display paired with HDMI 2.1.
ROG Xbox Ally
Performance targets for the handheld-focused ROG Xbox Ally X and ROG Xbox Ally S were also measured under specific testing conditions. The results assume the device is connected to power and running in Turbo Mode, which enables higher performance profiles. As with PC testing, actual performance may vary depending on hardware and software configuration.
Mac Compatibility and Optimization
The Mac version includes a preset labeled “For this Mac”, which automatically configures resolution and graphics settings to balance visual quality and performance based on the specific hardware in use.
Developer testing indicates that performance results may still vary depending on Mac hardware specifications and system configuration. For the best experience, players are encouraged to run the game on macOS 26 “Tahoe” or later, which the studio recommends for improved performance and stability.
About the Game
Crimson Desert places players in the war-torn continent of Pywel. The story follows Kliff, a warrior attempting to reunite the scattered Greymanes after a devastating ambush shattered their ranks. Exploration plays a major role, with players traversing large environments, battling hostile factions and towering creatures, and uncovering secrets across a visually detailed world. The project is positioned as one of Pearl Abyss’s most ambitious single-player productions, combining cinematic storytelling with large-scale action combat and next-generation visuals designed to push modern hardware.
The game is scheduled to launch on March 19, 2026 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam, Epic Games Store, and GeForce NOW.
