A newly released in-engine cinematic offers a first look at the opening moments of War Mechanic. The video presents the beginning of the story as protagonist Jack and his companion Bill approach Nordhook Island by boat, setting the stage for the events that follow. War Mechanic is coming soon to PC via Steam.

Captured directly within the game engine, the sequence highlights the tone and atmosphere players can expect from the adventure. The short cinematic focuses on the calm before the conflict, introducing the remote island setting and the early steps of Jack’s mission as he arrives at the mysterious location. The footage serves as an introduction to the narrative framework that drives the experience, offering a glimpse of how the story begins before players take control and start exploring the island themselves. Developers also confirmed that the video was rendered using the same technology powering the game itself.
War Mechanic is being developed by Chronospace and was previously introduced with a gameplay reveal trailer that showcased its open-world action systems and retro-futuristic setting. Set in an alternate timeline where World War II never truly ended, the game follows mercenary Jack Wallace as he travels to Nordhook Island to reactivate a long-abandoned military installation. What begins as a straightforward job soon escalates into a fight for survival against rogue machines, hidden bunkers, and remnants of a war that refuses to disappear.
Built using Unreal Engine 5 technology, the game combines open-world exploration with crafting, base building, and combat against mechanical enemies ranging from drones to towering robotic bosses. Players will explore a variety of locations across Nordhook Island, including weather-beaten coastlines, decaying military structures, and underground facilities filled with old war machinery.
War Mechanic is currently in development for PC via Steam. The project is set to be supported through an upcoming Kickstarter campaign, with a preview page already live for players interested in following the campaign ahead of its launch.
