Developer Thekla, Inc. and publisher PLAYISM have announced a co-publishing partnership to bring the Japanese digital console releases of Order of the Sinking Star to Nintendo Switch 2 and PlayStation 5. The collaboration will cover localized regional distribution, platform support, and dedicated marketing across Japan.

Directed by Jonathan Blow (Braid, The Witness), Order of the Sinking Star is a massive narrative puzzle adventure featuring over 1,000 interconnected, hand-crafted puzzles. The game mixes non-linear exploration, environmental storytelling, and Sokoban-style puzzles that change as you progress. You’ll explore four fantasy worlds filled with magic, hazards, and monsters, playing as a cast of heroes that includes a queen, thief, warrior, wizard, and even a talking boat. Each character has their own abilities, while the worlds themselves bring different puzzle mechanics into play. As the characters and worlds come together, these mechanics can be combined in new ways.
Alongside the publishing announcement, PLAYISM confirmed that a playable Japanese demo of the puzzle adventure will be available publicly at its booth during Tokyo Game Show 2026 at Makuhari Messe from September 17 to September 21.
Order of the Sinking Star will launch digitally in Japan for Nintendo Switch 2 and PlayStation 5, alongside its previously announced global release for PC via Steam.
