Dark Fairytale Metroidvania Well Dweller Heads to Modern Platforms This September
Simone Publisher Top Hat Studios and developer Kyle Thompson have announced that dark fairytale Metroidvania Well Dweller will launch on September 22, 2026. Platforms PlayStation5, Xbox Series X|S, and Switch 2 were newly confirmed alongside the release date.
Created by Kyle Thompson – the solo developer behind Crypt Custodian and Islets—the game puts players in control of Glimmer, a tiny bird armed with a matchstick. Glimmer embarks on a quest to burn the wicked queen and save his family before they are stitched into her royal gown.
In Well Dweller, you explore a whimsical yet morbid landscape, battle beasts, acquire new abilities, expand the interconnected world, and uncover hidden riddles in the underbelly of a wretched kingdom.
The game is releasing across PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch & Switch 2, and PC via Steam and GOG, while also arriving on Game Pass on day one.
