Blizzard Entertainment has officially announced StarCraft, a story-driven open-world shooter set within the long-running sci-fi universe. Revealing a shift away from the franchise’s real-time strategy origins, the project is scheduled to launch in spring 2030, with target platforms yet to be formally confirmed.

Led by executive producer Dan Hay, former head of the Far Cry series at Ubisoft, the new title marks the franchise’s first major return since StarCraft II. The narrative centers on the fallout within the Terran Dominion following previous wars across the Koprulu Sector, calling on a new generation of defenders to carry the line forward. The game aims to deliver an expansive, single-player and narrative-focused experience featuring open-world exploration, systemic shooter gameplay, and broad sci-fi combat.
StarCraft is currently targeting a release in spring 2030.
