Multiplayer details for Ace Combat 8: Wings of Theve have been revealed in a new online overview trailer, highlighting cross-play support, standalone progression, and a 100-player virtual airbase hub. Launching on October 2, 2026, for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam, early access begins September 29 for Deluxe Edition owners.

The online component introduces customizable pilot avatars and interactive lobbies where players can chat, access classic arcade titles, listen to franchise soundtracks via an in-game jukebox, and visit shops for aircraft and cosmetic upgrades. Core multiplayer modes focus on diverse cooperative and competitive setups. Co-Op Assault functions as a 4v4 PvE mode centered on score competition across objective-based missions, while Co-Op Warfare provides a 4v4 PvPvE environment combining enemy teams and NPC units managed through dynamic Threat Level mechanics.
Additionally, time-limited Scramble sorties feature battles against massive NPC fleets, and 8-player Emergency Sorties pit players against legacy superweapons alongside standard 4v4 team battles and 8-player free-for-all deathmatches. All online activities operate on separate save data from the main campaign while contributing to progression for ACE PASS holders.
Ace Combat 8: Wings of Theve is scheduled for release October 2 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam.
