A new demo for Fallen Tear: The Ascension is available today on PC via Steam. The story-driven, hand-animated side-scrolling Metroidvania from developer Winter Crew Studios and publisher CMD Studios arrives ahead of Steam Next Fest, which runs from February 23 to March 2, 2026.

The demo allows players to step into the role of Hira, exploring a never-before-seen area of the high-fantasy world of Raoah. Players can slash, dodge, and parry through enemy encounters while meeting new NPCs and forming bonds with additional allies through the game’s Fated Bonds system, which enables ally-assisted abilities for both combat and traversal.
Set in a world where quiet towns exist under the shadow of god-like beings, Fallen Tear: The Ascension follows Hira, a young monster hunter with a mysterious past, as he journeys through lush forests, arid deserts, forgotten ruins, and lively villages. The game’s expansive map evolves in response to player actions, while the Temple of Oras serves as a central hub in an ever-changing world.
Combat emphasizes precision and adaptability, encouraging players to customize Hira with a wide range of skills and abilities, swap weapons, and adjust strategies mid-battle. Boss encounters feature distinct behavior patterns, and a dedicated boss challenge mode puts players’ mastery to the test.
Inspired by classic JRPGs and modern Metroidvanias, Fallen Tear: The Ascension blends freeform exploration with hand-drawn 2D art and a bond-driven progression system. Players can forge relationships with a diverse cast of allies, each offering unique abilities and fully voiced storylines, while uncovering lost civilizations across Raoah’s interconnected regions.
