Square Enix has released the Tokyo Game Show 2026 trailer for Final Fantasy Resonance, offering a fresh look at the HD-2D turn-based RPG ahead of its release next month.

As the first HD-2D entry in the mainline franchise, this standalone console and PC RPG completely rebuilds the story of mobile title Final Fantasy Brave Exvius. You follow Grandshelt knights Rain and Lasswell alongside Fina as they protect elemental crystals from the Veritas of the Dark. Battles use traditional four-character turn-based combat with modern stagger mechanics, while the Visions system lets you summon characters such as Cloud, Tidus, and Clive.
Final Fantasy Resonance launches on October 22, 2026, for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam and the Microsoft Store. A free demo covering the opening chapter is available now, with save progress carrying over to the full game.
