Redruins Softworks, the development team behind Breathedge 2, has officially confirmed that the highly anticipated comedic space survival sequel will launch into Steam Early Access this August. The announcement was accompanied by a fresh, characteristically irreverent teaser trailer showcased during the recent IGN Live event.

Currently in the polishing phase, the upcoming Early Access build for Breathedge 2 is designed to serve as a highly optimized, fully functional first chapter of a grand adventure rather than a massive, empty sandbox. In terms of sheer scope, it is expected to be denser and larger than the original Breathedge Early Access rollout, concentrating its features into a highly compact, exploration-filled sector of space rather than spreading objectives across wide, empty kilometers.
The Early Access launch will include all core basic gameplay mechanics required to play as “the Man” in open orbit. Players can jump into looting, crafting, repairing, equipment upkeep, armor customization, basic combat, eating, breathing, and quest hunting, alongside system achievements. Narrative-wise, the story picks up the pieces following the crew’s survival of the Liner Without a Name crash and the destruction of the Mother Station.
Crucially, the studio highlighted that prominent features like personal vehicles, planetary exploration, and base building will not be included in the initial August launch. The first major post-launch update is already in active production and will introduce small and large transport ships, extra character progression, new NPCs, and fresh narrative chapters. Meanwhile, the highly requested base building mechanics and planetary gameplay are strictly slated for the second major update down the road, as the team wants to avoid creating a shallow, “checkbox” mechanic.
To reward early adopters, the game will debut at its lowest price point in August, with plans to incrementally raise the price alongside major content additions.
