Publisher Team17 and developer Wych Elm have announced that Silver Pines, an eerie survival-horror Metroidvania, will launch on October 8, 2026. Alongside the date announcement, a playable demo for the debut title from the Swedish studio has been launched on Steam ahead of its participation in this month’s Steam Next Fest.

The narrative follows private investigator Red Walker as he arrives in the rundown, abruptly abandoned American town of Silver Pines. Following a mysterious phone call instructing him to locate an individual named Eddie Velvet, players must navigate a sprawling, dreamlike environment. The gameplay blends classic survival-horror conventions – such as limited inventory space, resource scavenging, and puzzle-solving – with traditional Metroidvania exploration featuring locked gates, hidden pathways, and backtracking clues.
Developed by a five-person team featuring industry veterans who previously contributed to titles like Helldivers 2, The Darkness, and Yoku’s Island Express, the game features a distinct visual style utilizing hand-painted, rotoscoped animations wrapped in a neo-noir aesthetic. Combat encounters require players to either fight or evade hostile entities using limited ammunition and medical supplies discovered throughout the environment. Players will also interact with a suspicious cast of remaining townsfolk to gradually uncover the town’s underlying secrets.
Revealed during the Horror Game Awards’ Midsummer Night’s Scream showcase, the title is slated for release on PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S.
