Square Enix has released a Free Trial version for Killer Inn, the fast-paced, asymmetrical team-action shooter developed by Tactic Studios. Killer Inn is currently available in Early Access on PC via Steam.

The gratis trial features no playtime restrictions, allowing players to test the game before purchasing, though certain limitations apply to matchmaking participation and playable characters. Progress earned during the trial transfers over to the full game, which is currently available at a 75% discount until June 4, 2026.
The trial’s launch coincides with the start of a limited-time collaboration event with the action-RPG NieR:Automata. The crossover introduces various post-apocalyptic themed cosmetics, including two new character skins (Cosplayer 2B and Martial Artist 9S), eight themed banners, eight pixel-art emotes, and eight collaboration titles. A limited-time Battle Pass has also been introduced, allowing players to earn event-specific rewards by accumulating XP and climbing the leaderboards.
Alongside the event, patch 0.9.3 has been deployed to introduce several balancing updates and quality-of-life improvements. The update simplifies the defense mechanics against instant kills and increases the starting player count for Showdown Mode from three to six players, with automatic scaling for smaller matches. Additionally, custom matches now allow participants to utilize any characters unlocked by the lobby host, while onboarding matchmaking for beginners has been optimized alongside general weapon balancing and bug fixes.
