A new playtest for Isles of Krom is now live on Steam, providing a first look into the latest build of the dark fantasy action RPG coming with several major gameplay changes. The playtest introduces new systems, enemies, and progression features as the path toward the mysterious Gate opens across the Krom Archipelago.

The latest build of Isles of Krom features the guidance of characters called Wards through a dangerous archipelago to find a mysterious Gate. The gameplay centers on high-stakes survival and a new extraction system where collected materials are only secured if the player successfully returns to the Rostrum hub. Failure to extract results in the total loss of all items gathered during that run. The Rostrum serves as a central base where players can upgrade facilities and prepare future Wards to handle increasingly difficult challenges.
The update also features an overhauled navigation system to make exploration more dynamic and unpredictable. Increased danger comes from new enemy types that actively hunt players, alongside quest-style objectives known as Missives. As a roguelike extraction ARPG, the game emphasizes a brutal progression loop where successful missions allow for crafting better equipment, while fallen Wards are lost to the corruption. This design requires careful planning and perseverance to ensure the long-term survival of the next generation of fighters.
Developed and published by Floppy Goat Inc., Isles of Krom is an upcoming dark fantasy top-down extraction ARPG that blends visceral combat with a high-risk progression loop. Players take on the role of an Intendant serving the Corvus, preparing young Wards and sending them into the corrupted archipelago to retrieve resources and push back the spreading darkness.
Each expedition contributes to the long-term survival of future Wards. Successful runs allow players to craft and upgrade equipment, strengthening the next generation of fighters sent into the archipelago. Those who fall during their mission become another sacrifice in the ongoing effort to delay the corruption and reach the Gate.
