Open-world survival craft game Blind Descent has opened sign-ups for its upcoming playtest on PC via Steam, inviting players to be among the first to experience the project’s evolving vision ahead of its Early Access launch. A demo also remains available on the game’s Steam page.

Set deep beneath the Martian surface, Blind Descent blends survival mechanics, exploration, and cooperative play for up to four participants. Players take on the role of pioneers sent to uncover the fate of a missing expedition team, only to discover a vast subterranean ecosystem that is reactive, hostile, and alive. What begins as a search mission quickly transforms into a struggle to endure and adapt within an alien biosphere that demands more than simple resource management.
The underground world is designed as a dynamic environment shaped by unusual biomes, toxic hazards, aggressive lifeforms, and shifting environmental threats. Survival depends on careful observation and research, using gathered materials to craft tools and equipment while studying how alien organisms interact with their surroundings. Construction plays a crucial role, as shelters must be built and maintained in a world where fungal growths and creeping organisms can reclaim neglected structures.
Traversal is another key component, with advanced climbing tools enabling players to descend further into dangerous terrain. As exploration progresses, pioneers can unlock mutation-based abilities triggered by interaction with alien flora, enhancing combat and mobility while reinforcing the game’s central theme of symbiosis. Cooperation amplifies these systems, encouraging teams to share discoveries and coordinate strategies to overcome escalating threats.
