The 2D fighting game MARVEL Tōkon: Fighting Souls will launch on August 6, 2026 for PlayStation 5 and PC via Steam and Epic Games Store, publisher Sony Interactive Entertainment and developer Arc System Works have announced.

Alongside the release date confirmation, Storm, Magik, Wolverine, and Danger have been revealed as playable characters under the banner of “The Unbreakable X-Men”. Within the game’s original storyline, a new global threat forces a reorganized X-Men team into action after several core members are sidelined. Guided by Charles Xavier, Storm assumes leadership and forms a new squad to confront the crisis.
Each newly confirmed fighter brings distinct abilities to the roster. Storm manipulates wind and lightning, Magik combines sorcery with her Soulsword, Wolverine relies on his Adamantium claws and battlefield experience, and Danger appears as the sentient AI of the X-Men’s Danger Room in physical form. The narrative explores tensions between mutants and humanity while positioning the team against a looming adversary.
The game will feature an Episode Mode developed in collaboration with Marvel Games. This mode presents an original story adapted specifically for the title, blending Western comic sensibilities with manga-inspired visual storytelling. The narrative is delivered through motion comics and fully voiced across ten languages, including English, Japanese, and Spanish. On PlayStation 5, the experience will incorporate Tempest 3D AudioTech and DualSense controller features to enhance immersion.
Multiple editions will be available at launch. The Standard Edition includes the base game. The Digital Deluxe Edition adds a Year 1 Characters & Stage Pass, which grants access to four additional playable characters and one new stage post-launch, along with select lobby items. The Ultimate Edition expands further with additional cosmetic content, including alternate costumes and color variations for the launch roster. Pre-orders are scheduled to open on February 19, 2026.
