Konami Digital Entertainment has revealed Rev. NOiR, a brand-new JRPG currently in development for PlayStation 5. Officially unveiled during a recent State of Play broadcast, the project is being led by producer Nobuki Kadoi, a veteran known for his work on titles such as Drakengard 2 and Lord of Vermillion. While a specific release window has not yet been established, the announcement serves as a first glimpse into a world where the core elements of the genre—growth, companionship, and heartfelt narrative—take center stage.

The story of Rev. NOiR is set in a world plagued by a deadly natural phenomenon known as “lightfall,” which brings immediate death to those it touches. The narrative follows a lonely boy suffering from amnesia who encounters a mysterious girl. Together, they embark on a perilous journey to halt the lightfall, driven by the belief that their quest will save the world and protect one another. Their adventure eventually challenges the very mandates of the gods, questioning whether fate is predetermined or if the human will can reshape the future.
This new role-playing experience aims to capture the excitement of a classic adventure while utilizing modern hardware. The development team, comprised of passionate JRPG fans, is focusing on a narrative that weaves together threads of hope amidst a dark catastrophe.
While much of the title remains shrouded in mystery, Konami has launched a teaser website to provide further context as the project progresses toward completion on Sony’s latest console.
