Developer Genigods Lab has officially announced its debut single-player action RPG, Genigods: Nezha, with a global worldview premiere during Gamescom 2026 Opening Night Live. Built on a customized Unreal Engine 5, the buy-to-play title is currently in active development for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store.

Rooted in ancient Chinese genesis mythology, the game casts players as the Spirit Pearl – a primal life essence created by the Goddess Nüwa – reincarnated as the deity Nezha. The narrative presents a matriarchal perspective on eastern mythology, incorporating legendary tales like Kuafu Chasing the Sun and Yi Shooting the Nine Suns.
Key features revealed by the studio include:
- Three-Stage Hero Progression: Nezha evolves across three distinct stages: starting as a primitive porcelain vessel, maturing into the first mortal human, and ultimately transcending into a celestial warrior.
- Ground-Air Dual-Stance Combat: Mechanics allow players to transition fluidly between ground-based melee attacks and 3D aerial combat across sky battlefields.
- Cyber-Sinified Artifacts: Equipping complete sets of classic artifacts—such as the Fire-Tipped Spear, Wind-Fire Wheels, and Golden Brick—unlocks Nezha’s iconic eight-armed battle transformation.
- Cinematic Fluid Tech: Developed in collaboration with the animation team behind the Ne Zha film franchise, UE5 real-time fluid simulation powers in-game elemental visuals such as fire, water, and cosmic phenomena.
- Colossal Divine Boss Battles: Encounters feature massive mythic boss encounters spanning both terrestrial and celestial environments.
A playable hands-on demo is available on the Gamescom show floor from August 26 to 30.
