A new expansion for Anno 117: Pax Romana, titled The Hippodrome, is out now for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Ubisoft Connect, Steam, the Epic Games Store, and GOG.

As the second DLC for the historical strategy title, the release brings chariot racing, monumental construction, and enhanced province management to the Roman Empire, launched alongside the massive free Update 2.0.
Naturally, the centerpiece of the DLC is the Hippodrome, a multi-stage monument that satisfies the Marvels requirement for the Patrician class across the entire island once built. The structure unlocks a new Splendor system alongside chariot racing events, where players manage resources and assign specialists based on their unique traits to host races, earn provincial bonuses, and complete a dedicated narrative questline.
Launching in tandem, the free Update 2.0 adds a feature-rich Photo Mode with dynamic lighting, camera effects, and free-cam controls. The update also introduces a note-taking feature, rebalanced disaster impacts, adjusted bread production/population stats, and Honoured Guests who visit prosperous islands. Players can also unlock a new Heroic specialist tier – including Paldius, a specialist focused on boosting sheep farming and cheese production – limited to one per save game based on total generated Splendor.
Earlier this year, the first major DLC for city-building strategy game Anno 117: Pax Romana, titled Prophecies of Ash, launched for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. We’ve already reviewed Anno 117: Pax Romana and came away very impressed. You can read our full review here.
