During the Wholesome Direct 2026 livestream, developer Safe Flight Games, with support from publisher SIGONO, revealed the debut trailer for its upcoming commercial title, Beastfolk Barber (code-named Project Salon). The story-driven simulation game, where mechanical hair styling directly intertwines with intimate customer conversations, is set to launch for PC via Steam.

In Beastfolk Barber, your daily routine revolves around a unique, dialogue-driven loop where styling hair directly shapes the narrative. While trimming a diverse cast of beastfolk citizens, casual small talk organically shifts into deeper conversations about identity, workplace pressure, and societal prejudice. This cozy management routine takes a supernatural turn when a demon visits your shop, offering to grant a single wish in exchange for the perfect haircut. To fulfill this high-stakes bargain, you must continue serving the local community, gather essential resources, and eventually face your own unaddressed past.
To deliver the perfect cut, you utilize “The Demon’s Mirror”, a mysterious tool that projects a limited number of hairstyle previews into a customer’s mind so you can gauge their visual reactions. Your performance in the chair directly dictates the flow of the game, as precise trims unlock deeper character arcs and higher tips, while failed styles can prematurely end specific storylines. You wrap up each workday by handling shop logistics, counting your tips, and scanning the local news for social clues that will help you satisfy future clients.
Safe Flight Games previously developed Some Goodbyes We Made, which won the IndieCade 2025 Narrative Award and earned a BAFTA Student Awards nomination.
