Ahead of the upcoming PC launch of Death Stranding 2: On the Beach, KOJIMA PRODUCTIONS and PC developer Nixxes Software have released a beginner’s guide to help new and returning players prepare for Sam’s next journey.

The guide highlights several core systems players should understand before starting the game, beginning with the option to recap the story of the original Death Stranding directly from the main menu. Players can also consult the in-game Corpus, which explains characters, terminology, and story events while playing.
To prepare for missions, players can access VR Training challenges from Sam’s Private Room to test weapons, practice mechanics, and earn Likes before heading into the open world.

Traversal remains a major focus of the gameplay experience. The guide recommends frequently using the Terrain Scanner to detect hazards and enemy cargo, while properly balancing deliveries to avoid falling or damaging packages. Vehicles found in the world can also be used to transport large loads more efficiently.
For combat, stealth is often encouraged. Players can perform non-lethal takedowns from behind enemies to reduce damage to cargo and earn additional Likes. Encounters with the ghostly BT enemies require careful observation of Sam’s Odradek scanner, which helps reveal their positions.

As players progress, they will unlock APAS upgrades, allowing Sam to improve endurance, stealth, and combat abilities. These skill enhancements can be reset and customized depending on the mission.
The guide also highlights the importance of the game’s social systems. Through the Social Strand Service, players can communicate with allies, share helpful structures, and leave signs in the world to guide other porters, reinforcing the series’ cooperative gameplay design.
Finally, the post reminds players that Photo Mode is available throughout gameplay and even during cutscenes, allowing them to capture and share moments from their journey.
Death Stranding 2: On the Beach is now available for pre-purchase on Steam & Epic Games Store and launches on PC on March 19, 2026, bringing the next chapter of Sam’s story to a new platform.
