Publisher Thunderful Games and developer Sad Cat Studios have delayed the release of science-fiction retro-futuristic action platformer REPLACED from its previously planned 2025 window to spring 2026. An Xbox One version is no longer listed, as the game will only launch for Xbox Series X|S and PC via Steam and Epic Games Store. The announcement came alongside a new development update and behind-the-scenes footage, as well as two fresh gameplay videos.

Game director Yura Zhdanovich acknowledged the longer-than-expected development cycle, stating:
“We’ve always been trying to do what’s right for the project, which in turn, means delivering to you a truly special experience. The good news is that we now are very close to finishing production and REPLACED will be coming to PC and Xbox Series X|S in spring 2026.”
Set in an alternate 1980s America, REPLACED blends cinematic platforming, free-flow combat, and pixel art visuals in a single-player narrative experience. Players take on the role of R.E.A.C.H., an AI trapped unwillingly in a human body, struggling to adapt while navigating a corrupt, dystopian society where organs are currency and power is dictated by greed.
